Either my maths stinks or telkom failed basic numeracy in primary school

This link is to my telkom invoice dated June 27th (was meaning to post this a couple of weeks ago but got sidetracked)
*EDIT* those figures are ex vat if anyone is questioning my maths :P

Anyway, this is what happened:

Telkom finally comes to install my ADSL 384 (how long they took is another story for another day) - but wait - they can't install 384 as the line attenuation is too high, so telkom technician installs 192. I am a bit pissed of because I was looking forward to 384, but it isn’t a big deal

Then the bill arrives – They have correctly charged me R202 (incl vat) for installation (normally R404 but it was on some kind of half price special), but they have also charged me the full R404 so I have paid twice for installation once at full price and once at the discount. Then they charged me to downgrade from the 384 I ordered to the 192 they installed – seems a bit fishy seeing as I NEVER ACTUALLY HAD 384. Then finally, to add insult to injury, they charged me to install a jack in my home. Never mind the fact that the jack was already there.

All in all they overcharged me by nearly a grand.

Anyway, I go to the telkom shop and the lady there agrees that I have been overcharged, but then it emerges that I can’t just get it removed from the bill, I need to lay a formal dispute and if I don’t pay the bill my phone gets disconnected.

Anyway, the dispute was laid, and I am hoping that the money gets deducted from my next phone bill. Still it would be much better if telkom either sent their staff back to Grade 0 to learn some foundation maths or invested in a state of the art pocket calculator from China to do it for them (guess they want to save on the R10 one of those things cost).

Enough ranting

Cheers
Roger

Telscum employs their staff based on their IQ's, the lower the better. They are an unique breed, what do you expect?

lol good luck. I also had a similar problem. You'll only see a difference on your acct in about 3 months (If you get real nasty and pester them about it as often as you can)
