Eksdom is recruiting

ROFL thats a good one.

On a serious note, I have not seen any Eishkom engineering jobs advertised in the Sunday Times, but did note a few other countries such as Aus advertising for these skills.

I have access to inside information on Eskom (hee hee) and was told some time ago why the loose bolt happened. With this whole BEE thing happening (I'm not going to express my opinion on this topic), Eskom decided to let loose their PROFESSIONAL ENGINEERS and hire some TECHNICIANS. And then some clever techie lost a bolt in a 7m diameter nuclear turbine. Not very clever, ey?

I have however seen that Eskom is giving out bursaries to students, but I have also seen that most of those bursary students are failing half and more of their courses....
Eskom has now started bringing back some retired Engineers to come fix what the new people have broken. It at least shows that they realize they have a brig friggin problem on their hands

I just read an article (a half-hour ago) that it was not a loose bolt, but a piece of magnet that had destroyed/damaged the turbine and it was a long, long wait for a replacement, as it can't be ordered off the shelf at the local hardware store.

It's a regular steam turbine with the steam coming from a nuclear reactor - just to be 100% technically correct.

When I was with them a specialist turbine team from Rosherville did these turbine/generator overhauls - this would never have happened then. This team had international recognition at the time.

Bringing back the 'retired' engineers is a ploy - this way the 'retired' ones come back on a temp basis to get the ball rolling again, and the currently employed useless ones remain employed - we pay for this.
When I left Eishkom myself and a few mates returned to the last power station we worked at to provide the same services we did when employed by them on a contract basis (high price), while our previous departments had a full new staff compliment that were totally clueless, and sat on their butts all day.
