thats not such a el cheapo...lol
ok, the mobo is bottom range but the processor is good

budget is 1.5k for the graphics card
i see that the 9800GT 1TB is on special, is it worth it or should i take a GT series card?

@dudleygp, i paid just less than 3k for that setup

9800GT is old and that one on special sucks

You could get a 4850 for 1.2k or so and that would be wayyy better than that 9800GT, 4870s are going around 1.5k

wikk3d88. Don't worry about the past, ATI is currently the king of graphics. I'm not a fan boy of either, I go for what is best for the money. A GTS250 is slower than a 4850 and a GTX 260 is slower than a 4870 and those are really the only that are near par with each other

An ATI 4850/4870/5770 is your best bet for that money and it smashes Nvidia's cards in that price range.

ATI it is then :)

A 5750 is also a good choice, it's on par with a 4850, sometimes one is better than the other in games. 5750's overclock nicely I hear.

The 5750 on average performs about 10%better than the 4850.

And with the new 9.12 drivers performing so well with the 5000 series I'm sure it's going to get a lot better. My 5870 saw over 20fps increase with most games with these new drivers.

im leaning towards the 5750... have asked my local mom n pop IT store to give me a quote, failing that one of the online stores will have an order in the new year
