Elardus Park Exchange - lightning

My ADSL connection intermittently gets dropped since I installed it about a week ago. More accurately: The line itself stays up, the PPPoE link gets dropped and I get Error 678 upon trying to reconnect.

After about 6 calls to log the fault and check the progress, finally a person at Telkom tells me the following:

That the Elardus Park Exchange was hit by lightning about 6 weeks ago.

That "they" are working on resolving the problem.... (apparently).

That about 300 people are currently affected by this.

Anybody else in the Elardus Park area experiencing the same problem? Ive been disconnected 3 times in the last week and subsequently could not log back in for at least 15 minutes.

In which Extension?
I've had lots of problems like this, but not in the past 3 weeks or so...
 
The 345 extension... its in the old Elardus park. Im still having this problem where I can't log into my ISP (MWeb) now and again. It’s very intermittent.

I'm basically paying for an allways on connection that isnt. :(

I'm not buying the lightning story either...
 
Yip, I'm on the other side and like I said, I used to have the same problem, but it hasn't happend in almost a month now.
I have a friend with DSL who lives on that side, will ask him if he also has the same problem tomorrow and report back!
