The house I've moved to has an electric fence, but when looking at the power connections to the energizer, the ground terminal has been snipped off on the circuit board.

To guys who do this for a living: is there any good reason for disconnecting the fence supply from earth?

Thanks!

I don't know much about it but can find out for you from my SIL if you want.
I suggest though that it was probably tripping the EL and that was the cure.

So my son in law says the PSU for the system is earthed via its power supply plug for a wall socket and the earth must be connected.
Then some systems do require an earth spike at the panel connected to a provided terminal.
Do you have the model number of the unit available?

You need to have one of the fence wires connected directly to a copper earth spike, suggest the one second from the bottom

This is suggested by the local electric fence supplier in Epping
