Can a regular porcelain light fitting that you buy from a hardware support a 250W ceramic heat emmiter and work at it's optimum level?

I have an enclosure for my pet Iguana and I have a exo terra wire lamp fitting that it supports up to 250W. This fitting is very old and is not working anymore. A replacement fitting is really expensive. A regular porcelain fitting is only R20, but it does not state the maximum wattage it supports.

Advice on this will be greatly appreciated.

Eh, the fittings are normally rated at 100W. However the assumption is that the fittings are in an enclosed space and must be able to cope with the heat.

You can't get away with a 150W bulb? I'd be much happier with that...

I'm using a 250W ceramic heater, The 150W heaters do not heat up the enclosure high enough. Will i just be better of buying the exo-terra wire lamp fitting that is rated at 250W?
