So my trusty Toyota is having some issue starting.
Problem began about two weeks ago when while driving all the electronics (dash clock, lights and radio) switched off suddenly. Parked the car and tried to start it which it did.
Left it be as the indicators not working was a bit of an issue and planned to look at it when I had time.
Tried to start it last week but no go. Battery is charged, changed spark-plugs and fuses but the car refuses to start. Turns over but not sure what is not working here. Final idea is it might be the petrol pump but that doesn't explain the electronics going off

Alternator was changed recently so doubtful it's that. Advice would be appreciated or a good electrician in the northern suburbs of JHB who is open on Sunday.

when you switch on the key, does the dash lights come on.

do you hear your petrol pump running.

did you check all the fuses.

can also be a relay.

Relay?
Checked all the fuses in the drivers compartment. All fine.

Check for any wires shorting out......
You can stick a screw driver between live & earth on the actual starter...if you know where to find it? Turn key on first..
it should crank the motor...,or try a kick start in 2nd gear..you need all lights on dash to be on for this to work.

Relay; on a car it is use for switch high currents to a device, like the starter, lights and petrol pump.

No idea where the starter is . If I get a moment I'll poke around

Can't hear the petrol pump running but not sure I ever could even when the car was working and yes all the lights come on.

emmobilizer part of your alarm perhaps actimg up?

Take it to a reputable car sound 'n security place near you.

Petrol tank is below rear seat. Climb out of you car, turn key on, you should hear it.

Test it on another car, preferably not a Toyota. [engine must be off, to hear it]
