Can someone tell me what is the typical cost of a Compliance Certificate of the type required when one is selling a house? Does anyone know of a reputable electrician in the Harties area who can do such inspections without leaving one feeling as if one has been ripped off?

They charge between R700 and R900 for inspection and certificate, if anything not right that will cost a bit, had to spend abou 9k when selling old house as builders in the Western Cape are pigs.

Had mine done for R450. Some plugs were not earthed :O charged me no extra to fix it though so cant tell what costs it would be -really depends on what is wrong.

As far as I know its not a requirement any more (since mid-last year) - and if the buyer wants it done, its for their cost. Could be wrong.

Well I just bought my house 3 months ago and they still wanted an electrical compliance certificate

I have no idea just know they wanted one, which was either the banks requirments or the lawyers.

But as far as I know it is suppose to be the the sellers responsibilty to get one.

I would also rather have the electric checked properly don't want tv's washing machines etc. blowing up unexpectly or getting yourself shocked.
