Cost overruns

How else are Eskom going to pay for the overruns in construction costs at the new power stations?

July 2006: Medupi budget 32bn
Feb 2013: Medupi overrun to R158bn
Similar size power station cost constructed by Tata in India cost R32b.

Aug 2012: Kusile to R158.2-billion

At these new costs, it's cheaper to get Wind / Solar.

Why did they allow it to overrun tho? Sometimes companies take advantage with overruns when they know u gonna just pay :p

Government project...so tenderpreneurs and incompetence both out in force.

Besides, if you've spent 100% of the budget and got 10% of the work done then what? Declare it a flop and announce that electricity is overrated anyway?
