I lived in Danville pretoria for a month.

During that month i closely monitored the prepaid meter thinking this is one of those expensive meters. Switching on the geyser and using the oven etc, i saw that the units were very slowly depleting.

My wife began baking cookies the whole day and only 1 or 2 units would dissappear. We used the aircon, leaving the geyser on 24/7.

I turned on all appliances i had, testing the meter.

When i moved into the house i bought R50 of electricty which was over 100 units.

I currently live in the Hercules area. Now i can barely use an appliance and i do not even use my stove.

Geyser, pc. Kettle. Tv. Washing machine.

My electricity bill is now over R800.

How does this work?

R50 for a hundred units??? I've not seen that price for about ten years. Are both prepaid?

Tshwane charges the same tariff for all domestic users in the city. You might pay a slight premium if you buy through an agent and not directly from the municipality.

Apparently not true at all.

I know what i payed and how much electricity i wasted. Where i am living now i cant do it.

My apologies. They charge each customer a different rate and you're on the highest tariff schedule they have.

That is it, we've been paying more than R1/kWh for a while now in Madibeng, directly from Eskom. Now for someone to still be paying 50 cent today? I suspect there is something going on there that is not right.
R50 should get 32.7kWh

Even municipalities pay more than 50 cents when you add the connection charges. It's simply impossible.
