Looking at getting an electronic kit, most likely the tdk4 (the 6 seems to no longer be???)

Anyone got any recommendations for or against it? Best places to purchase?

Only place online that I could find it:
http://musicmadness.co.za/Roland/Percussion/Roland-TD-4-Roland-TD-4.html
http://musicmadness.co.za/Roland/Electric-Drums/Roland-MDS-4-Roland-MDS-4.html

I am also considering getting myself an electronic set. From what I have read, the TD4 has replaced the td3 and td6, so sort of in between the two.

Do you have any prior experience with electronic sets? I was wondering how loud the noise is when playing. Would it for instance bother people in the flat next door?

thanks for the links, I am going to marshall this wknd to check what they can sort out for me...

I have played on electronic sets previously but never owned one.
The noise is not too bad, its a fair amount less than say a practice pad would be. I know some ppl get the external speakers etc but i actually prefer the headphones (and so would my g/f). I like the td4 in the fact u can plug in external inputs for music/songs etc, can record and have the metronome with variable volume (changes volume depending on if you on the beat or not!!)

what i dont know is how well it works with a double bass pedal?
13.5k is not too bad for the kit but i reckon I could find it a bit cheaper....

I am actually looking out for a cheap second hand kit. I am not a very good drummer, I can play a few very basic beats but not much more. Since I live in a flat, an acoustic set is not really an option.

I just want something I can teach myself on, so the metronome is a good idea. I also like to just play along with some music for the fun, so being able to plug in an external source as a backing track is great.

there is the option of getting an acoustic kit and getting dampening pads, but i hate the feel!!!!!

The electronic kit is an expensive option, but the idea is to be able to mix it in with a normal kit when i get the chance to expand.

I have a Roland TD-3k and am super happy with it. It also works with guitar Hero which is sweet.
