Elephant blows BEE trumpet

MEMBERS of the Elephant consortium, which controversially secured a 10% shareholding in Telkom last year, are believed to be in the running for an empowerment stake in cellphone operator Vodacom.

All the usual empowerment suspects as can be expected.

any1 got an idea how many years will the government still use apartheid (bee) and when will we see that ppl get jobs because they have the skill and not because of skin colour ?

Has guavamint duped Vodafone into thinking that Vodafone needs to sell off 5% of its 50% shareholding in Vodacom to a BEE company?

I wouldn't be supprised, and wont that mean that the gov will indirectly stay in control of voda?

@Whiphold i thought companies had the right to choose who they deal with.

Are we becoming a communist state ?

Government gave us democracy 1 of the factors being freedom of choice but Companies are being forced into BEE deals or no1 will do business with them.
It is right that Telkom is Voda`s BEE partner and the only ppl who seem to benifit from BEE are ex ministers or the black elite not the ppl it intended to benifit the system is being abused.

I for 1 would like to see a real BEE audit and see how this benifits the masses to date.
