In short from the dutch: A possible ban on Elephant hooters at soccer matches - noise drowns stadium sound systems - also rolls into homes of tv fans.

Massive number of complaints at FIFI. Commentators could not be understood above the din - instruments could be used to beat each other - ans could be banned.

I knew for a fact this was going to happen :D

It's annoying as ****, I prefer cheering fans above a constant buzzing any given day :)

what vuvuzela's say about south africans, if vuvuzelas are seen as proudly South African
:" we are to dumb to play instruments with more than one note"

Bwhahahahahahahaha!!!

Well said!:D

It's big news over seas. They are now making a corrolation between the Lions vs Springbok games = Zero vuvuzelas and the Confed cup games with a massive noize aka vuvuzelas.

I'm pretty sure Fifa won't allow the vuvuzelas in the 2010 stadiums, just a hunch though :)

I doubt it, as has been said on this very forum by some people, who associate football with black people and rugby with white people in S.A. and FIFA being on an anti-racism drive they will allow them so as to be seen as not a racist organisation... ;)

Well if you can call the ban of a noice making instrument at a Sports game Racism then the world is beyond help :o

However I think you might have a very valid point ;)

Dude, your inconsistent use of apostrophes and capitalisation, and your unfortunate consistent use of the word "to", also tells me a lot about South Africans, or maybe only those living in Pretoria.

*grin* *duck* *runveryfast*

Vuvuzelas have absolutely nothing to do with race

They will be banned, watch...

TV revenue generated from Europe and the rest of the world is worth far too much and they will still sell out stadiums, even if a few people cry about a lousy horn

Its only a few south africans that will associate the ban as racist and they dwarf in numbers when compared to the amount of people who are going to watch the games...so, too bad for them..

Ummm they do, indirectly because of the huge following of football in S.A. by non-white people. Not sure whether you have ever lived in Europe for an extended length of time or not however Europeans are very scared of being called racist, and IMO they will be thinking along those lines when they decide whether they will ban vuvuzelas or not. The result will be that vuvuzelas will be allowed. Sepp Blatter has gone to great lengths to "convince" people that the world cup in S.A. is a good idea and it will all go according to plan. He will not allow anything to get in the way of it being seen as a success for both S.A. and the world, for instance look at how they have played down the crime situation for one.

I couldn't give a flying "hoot" scuse the pun whether the vuvuzela stays or goes, but it is my opinion it will stay. I may be proved wrong who knows

Yea get what you saying but its one thing to be accused of being a racist (happens with everything these days in SA), and its another to actually be a racist.. Banning the vuvuzela wont be a racist move and they might be willing to ride the wave of initial critism from a few South Africans... tv revenue really is the bigger picture

ohwell slap taken, never been any good at punctuation spelling or grammar sometimes even wonder why I still bother, but thanks for pointing it out really makes one feel even better about ones dislexia ;)

I was in the UK while the confed cup was going on. I caught coverage of a few games on BBC.

The commentators informed british viewers about the vuvuzela and how it is part of south african football culture. They also added that people can expect the noise to be louder at 2010.

Based on that coverage and the comments, i think most people overseas will expect to hear the vuvuzela and thus i dont think it will be banned.

I think Fifa made a calculation mistake when the Vuvuzela was brought up the first time.

How much harm can a few 100 do?

They did not bargain on the fact that the whole crowd was going to have one.
