Ellies is dead

Ellies is being liquidated, the company has informed shareholders.

“The business rescue practitioner has concluded that there is no reasonable prospect of the company being rescued,” Ellies said.

Several years ago, I walked into the local Ellies outlet in Bowls Road, East London (I work in the same street). I wanted to buy a TV arm but they told me they don't sell to the public as they respect their installer customers etc. I asked them if they couldn't sell to me at their full list price, thereby not undercutting their main customers. Still, no. So I had to drive to a Game to get what I needed.

Years later they all of a sudden were now selling to the public. I can't help thinking that if they hadn't been so narrow minded back then, this end would not have come. There is always a way to keep your bulk customers happy while looking after the small walk ins as well.

I can understand wanting to keep smaller guys happy but the big guys already get it at a massive discount so it makes no sense.

That really is sad. They were my first choice for cabling for my sound system, computers, etc. They made a really good product at an excellent price.

We await the ANC, DSTV, TELKOM, Post Office etc, etc....
Pity people have to lose they jobs.

In a few months/years people will be complaining about all the cheap dish imports from china, how it is not reliable and how it cost so many jobs... Ag shem.

In other words no insight into the factors that made up their core business.
I was told a CEO is there to get in new business and ensure that the business flourishes.

I want to see his time cards. I want to see what he did every 5 minutes.
How many times was he late to work.

Did his degree not teach him basic understanding how to run a business. Or when he studied his degree he might have been pissing on other people's stuff.

What happens to the people who actually did their work?
The ones who had to clock in and ensure they are at work.
