Ellies Inverter Shutdown

Good day all,

Hoping someone can point an inverter newbie in the right direction.
Bough a Ellies FBI 1200 Trolley Inverter and got quite excited today with the opportunity to use it.
When the power went off I pushed the on button expecting to be freed of my Eskom dependence for a while but it started up and then shut down again. Battery seems charged.

If there's nothing plugged into it, it will probably shut off because it is idle?

No, it's just that it uses a single power button for a couple of things, it does not go into sleep mode as far as I know, unless the same power button has a sleep mode setting as well.

See how it is showing the load on the left side of the display, pressing the power button once toggles between a couple of menus as the input AC voltage is also displayed there, pressing it and holding it toggles between line mode and backup, if it is in the wrong setting it won't go into backup when power goes off.

He just needs to play with it until he figures it out.
 
Thank you all for the quick replies. Which mode should it be in when there is load shedding, line mode or backup mode?

I tried to fix one the other day, a Pc track burnt under a component, fix it , worked for a year, then they put the whole house on it.

It's fine that people can teach themselves stuff and DIY but it's stories like these that makes me appreciate how important it is for people to go to school and get the basics and all the theory right.

Where I stay is a CUT and it is full of students, learning paper work things, Law kind of stuff. Over the road is a tool skill learning college centre, the only students were from Africa, not local. They are closing down because of lack of students, currently no oversea students, and no local one. a few of the Lectors were master artisans.

On another note, a student ask me the other day to come to my work for practical experience, but to be approved, will will first needs ppe, then first aid and fire training, induction and insurance should he get hurt, etc , etc. so sad.
