1. How/where can I see/contact/track the future plans for providing (consumer) fibre deployment specifically for Ellisras (cANCer name "Lephalale}, Limpopo, ZA) ?
2. Is there a website where one can track ? I know about the different fibre providers' website but they only the areas in affluent areas. Vodacom completed a optical fibre ring to link all their cell towers, completed 12/2015 the cable is above ground and next to the main routes.
3. Why would I want fibre when my ADSL is already fast enough to view Youtube at 1080p without buffering ?
One can get 20Mb uncapped fibre for cheaper than ADSL cut out Telkom line & data tax.
I'm currently on 10mb uncapped ADSL with Axxess and I'm in the very lucky position in that my line originates 100 meters from our town's main Telkom exchange. Prior to the Vodacom link my ADSL max speed test was 8,5mb, since the Vodacom fibre link I've noticed lower latency and ADSL speed test 9,8Mbs which I understand should be the absolute maximum.
From SAHRA (South African Heritage Resources Agency) who approved the Vodacom cable.

It's quite amazing how internet speed has improved here in the remote Limpopo town where I live. Up to 2011 the ADSL was only 1mb and impossible to use Youtube, some relief early 2012 ADSL up to 4Mb but still impossible to use Youtube unless buffering, somewhere 11/2013 overnight the connection improved and no more buffering but still only 4mb... because we live in the styx (our closest neighboring town is 135/170km depending the route you take) I thought that 10Mb ADSL would arrive maybe in 10-20 years.. Somewhere early 2015... 10Mb ADSL and no matter what time day/night I always get top speed ! Apparently our exhange is 30Mb capable but getting that speed would be a huge Telkom tax. I live faaaaar outide town, but relay my ADSL via long range wifi link.
