Hi guys

I am looking at purchasing the ELM327 Mini adapter. It is relatively cheap and works on android which is a big plus. The purchase will be more preventive as there is nothing wrong with the car that I can see

Just a few questions
1) Any thoughts on this specific adapter
2) does anyone have it and what's your experience
3) I have a 2013 polo 6. anyone knows if it will work

Thanks

Most of these adapters do not support VW protocols so it will not work.

You will need to get a VAGVOM-compatible adapter to work with your Polo

It will do basic OBD2 stuff. Just not coding, and VW specific functionality

I have the same adapter bought from DX.com and it refuses flat-out to work in my Caddy via Torque. Tried all sorts of tricks and protocol changes but I had no success.

Works perfectly fine in my i30 and the flatmate's Lancer :)

Will I be able to view and clear errors with my linked adapter

Interesting. I guess maybe the later VWs don't work, I've used it on everything up to a 2008

Perhaps, yeah. Mine is a 2013 model for what it's worth. Interestingly enough it also doesn't work with my old man's 2005 Colt Rodeo. Something about a proprietary protocol that Mitsu used on their older models

Don't waste your time if you want error codes, my friend tried one of those on his 2007 audi a3. He cleared all the codes and when I scanned it with my legit VAG cable it still had 3 error codes that his ELM327 did detect. It does however display the gauges like speed and revs, etc perfectly.

What's the cheapest I can get a VAG cable? The main reason I want in is for example if one morning a check engine light stays on, I want to know why without paying someone a few hundred rand

If you're in Cape Town I see theres a person in Rondebosch seeling them for R1k on gumtree, they arent legit cables though but do work.

If you can wait order one off Aliexpress. Just search for VCDS and you will find it, my friend got his there and its works 100% with my s3 and his 2013 a4
