I found the Elonex 700Eb Colour ebook reader at Kalahari(http://www.kalahari.net/electronics/Elonex-700EB-Colour-e-Reader/18950/38931913.aspx ) at a decent price with decent battery life. For all those who have used the tablet can anyone confirm the following: 1) that the device allows you to take notes as you read 2) that it runs on Android - which means it can be rooted to bring more functionality and apps

One word .... DON'T! It's a POS ... reboots all the time and the claimed battery life is a complete fabrication. Trying to get hold of Elonex for support is a joke.

I see there's a firmware update that may resolve the reboot issue - I'll give that a try and report back.

thanks for the heads up. do you know of any similar alternative on the SA market?

Can you load downloaded PDF magazines onto this thing?

Seems its possible according to the spec sheet

I must admit having done research since this morning, it seems like a very good deal, well for what I want it for and that's reading magazines I download.

I'm busy with calibre now, only thing that bugs me is converting pdf docs. to a format this device can read - and then making sure I can actually read them on this device and the font isnt too small or too much zooming etc.
