Email client sync queries?

The Sync problem is with the Email Client built into with the Windows Phone 8.1 (Nokia Cyan Update) installed using Outlook.com email address (Ms Account).
The email client fails to sync Sent Folder messages older than one month on the phone.
Windows Phone Settings:-
1 - Email Client Sync setting - Download email from "Any Time".
2 - Sent Folder setting - Sync this Folder.
3 - The un-synced message is still present in the Sent items on Outlook.com OWA (Outlook Web Application).
4 - The Email client is set up as IMAP (Internet Mail Application Protocol).
Q1 - Is this a general problem?
Q2 - Is this a default set up for Windows Phone?

Yes it was added as Outlook.com account in imap protocol.
A "Soft Reset" was done on the Phone with the same sync result. The Calendar,People all sync correctly.
I suspect this "Sent" messages limit of one month is part of the Outlook.com design.
Will try using the mail rules to move the messages.

Wonder if our local MVP person "Roguemat" can confirm this error or default.

Gotta admin, I've never had mine set on more than a few weeks. I get and send so many emails that I like it getting rid of them fairly quickly.
But to answer your question, add your account to Outlook on desktop and see what it does. If it only pulls sent for the last month, then yes, presumably this is an Outlook.com behavior, if not then it is a bug/feature of WP.

Are you able to click the "search more in x" to get results older than a month?

Tnx Roguemat - I installed Ms Office Outlook 2013 setting up IMAP outlook.com email account resulting in a perfect sync without any missing items. Then I moved the missing mail from sent to archive via Outlook.com, the PC and Phone synced perfectly. Did a manual sync then deleted the Outlook.com account from phone. Then moved the missing mail from archive back to sent folder via Outlook.com. Then re-activated outlook.com on the phone resulting in that the missing mail re-appears in the sent folder. Problem resolved but still not understand the reason for the error. Suppose some things in life is not meant to understand
