Im using the standard email client (probably samsung) to retrieve email from an mweb account, checking every 15 minutes, but it uses so much data, over the same timespan the gmail app used 46kb while this used 1.3mb, any suggestions for an email app that is less data hungry?

Just set up your Gmail account to fetch your Mweb mails and use only the Gmail app.

Works flawlessly for me. I've got 4 accounts coming in via the Gmail app.

I use K-9 Mail. I get mail faster than the Gmail app, but I don't know its data usage.

The Samsung email app does not cache emails on the device & re-downloads them all each time it accesses the server! Best to try a third party email app if you want to reduce data usage...

Yeah thought about this, but i want notifications about emails from the mweb account, but not from my other gmail emails, that's why they are separate.

wow really?! What moron made that app?

The standard exchange mail app (Google) works the same as gmail, and looks the same. Maybe you can find it on xda

Kaiten mail. I setup all my accounts as imaps and mails get pushed to the device instantly. Gmail accounts work well too.

Only problem is that when you reply to mail, the sender get a response from Gmail address instead of Mweb that they used to mail the query, creating confusion.

Or is there a way to overcome this? (ie: Use Gmail web/client but communicate using your Mweb mail address for send and received mail)

Yes. Click the drop down on the sender and select the mweb mail address. Alternatively, go to gmail option on your desktop and select default replying email.

This.

When you set up the accounts it will ask if you also want to reply from that account instead of the Gmail account. Just select the option.
