I've suspected for a while now that some of the email sent from my PC through iBurst's SMTP has been disappearing. I've just tested and confirmed this with a friend - I sent three mails in quick succession from my PC, and only two reached their destination.

I am a freelance journalist, and I correspond with all my employers through email. Two weeks ago, I sent in an assignment which never arrived. I was only made aware of this five days later, when the editor mailed and asked for it, wondering why it was so late.

I'm beginning to wonder what else hasn't been getting through.

I don't think I need to stress the seriousness of this issue. :/

Hi Azimuth

Please send me your contact detail so that we can isolate the issue and get to the bottom of things.

Thanks

Azimuth, I hope your issue gets resolved quickly. May I suggest that in future you set up a GMail account (or any other web-based account - Live/Yahoo also being candidates), and setup your email program to always BCC said webmail account. That way you have a copy of everything you send, and you'll also have confirmation that it got through the pipes...

Alternatively, if you have a domain, why not set up Google for your domain? I use it for my company - it's free, it works well once setup, and it's online. I can use it wherever.

Just a thought, from one freelancer to another.

Thanks for the suggestions, Raithlin. I do have my own domain, but I use iBurst's SMTP to relay outgoing mail. Still, I think that BCCing outgoing mail to my Gmail address is a very good idea indeed.

This issue has been resolved, thanks to Shaun Green. It would appear to be a case of over-zealous spam filters, and not iBurst's SMTP.

Shaun Green again.Nice one! Now that iBurst lost their case against Neotel regarding the exclusive use of the colour orange in their ads, maybe they should use green. Seems to work already...
