Email sending problems.

Sorry guys i have no idea under what heading to post this so please move it if need be.

A friend in Hermanus has sometimes got a problem sending emails. Incoming emails seem to be fine and has sent me the following information.

Do you guys know what the problem might be?

My internet service provider is Skyworld - a Cape Town based server with a tower here in Hermanus.

My E-mail provider is Itec (Maxitec here in Hermanus).

Incoming mail server is pop3.maxitec.co.za
Outgoing mail server is smtp.saix.net

I am having the same problem again today.

smtp server sound wrong

your friend should contact his ISP to find out what the correct SMTP server is.
 
ok hold that thought guys i see they are offline now. i will ask for the error report and get back to you.

ok my friends sent me a screen shot of her email settings and i saw the smtp was different so i asked her to change it to smtp.maxitec.co.za (the old one being smtp.saix.net) but now she gets the following message "sending reported error 0x800ccc0d) unable to find email server. please verify the server information in your account properties"

has she tried calling maxitec's tech support for the exact SMTP server name? that should be the quickest, but here is a possible reason:

i just sent her the links from Libs and she says it's a telkom problem in the area so i also invited her here if she needs more help from you guys.
