I'm not sure if this is the correct forum but here I go.

I'm looking for a hosting service that will allow me to create email addresses with my domain name e.g. [email protected] but I also want these emails to work within gmail (let gmail send/receive emails from that account) Is this possible? I have seen someone use this.

Currently I'm using Afrihost for my hosting and I am unable to get their email to work within gmail, and they have yet to give me a solution.

Kind regards,
ThumperZA

Pretty sure Gmail allows for any POP email address to be added to your profile now.

I still have the old email forwarding thing going which has been working for ages.

I receive and can send from 3 different addresses with my Gmail app and web.

Google can host your email and domain for you for a couple of $$. Your mail will be accessible via gmail. My old company used to do this.

Edit: Thanks HApyM3al

You can add any account that uses IMAP/POP to Gmail (and that's pretty much all email accounts that aren't strictly webmail).

Or you could add Google Apps to your domain.

Thank you for the replies, I got the email to receive through the gmail client yet when I try setup google to send emails through gmail I come up with this error. Untitled.jpg

The google apps alternate seems very appealing for us but I'm currently working for an NPO with 9 employees and I feel paying $45 a month will be a little too much for us compared to R39 we are paying atm.

I registered as a NPO with Google Apps - they made the account free... I'm currently not at my PC or I would've sent you more details.

That would be fantastic if you could send me more details because from what I've read it says to be eligible I need to be based in the following countries Australia, Canada, Czech Republic, England, France, Hungary, Japan, New Zealand, Poland, Slovakia, United States and Wales

I have 5 email accounts (The sending account limit) running through my gmail and I know that for sending mail I use mail.mydomain.co.za for the SMTP server and not smtp.mydomain.co.za - Try that and let me know.

If you decide on using google apps:
Just know that doing this will limit you to 500 "Similar subject" emails per day. So if you're sending out a newsletter, do that by using your own server and not through Gmail apps account, otherwise you'll be limited to 500 sends per 24 hours.

Have this set up with a parked domain name. Gmail sends email to and from my domain name. I think you need to do some DNS changes at the registrar. It's easy.

I don't think I registered for Google Apps. I set this up through Gmail - "Settings" - Accounts and Imports - Send mail as:
(Use Gmail to send from your other email addresses)

And at my registrar I changed this:

Added a TXT record with google-site-verification=....... whatever Gmail provided to prove I owned the domain name.
Modified the MX record to aspmx.l.google.com with MX Pref of 10.

Yes, he tried, as you can see here, http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/attachment.php?attachmentid=194200&d=1424793251

But I'll just suggest changing the smtp.yourdomain.co.za to mail.yourdomain.co.za for sending mail. I'm sure that will work.
