Embedded Links in posts and websites: Why so many issues these days?

Lately, I have experienced many times where links to urls that members post fail with the error below. Not sure if I am describing the error correctly.



Error message of another example, not the one listed below. All are the same, the url varies. Is this specific to a browser or OS?

And please no snotty messages about WIN 10 please, I am looking for genuine responses as to what may be causing this

Sometimes refreshing the post makes the links work, sometimes not.


Here is such a post that failed the first time round, and the second refresh. Then another refresh and it now works.

I think you need to start with finding out whether it is DNS related or not.. Ultimately your browser or OS is responsible for DNS lookups and connecting to the relevant URL's..

The behavior you describe sounds like DNS issues.. Open up your browsers dev console and the network tab and when you find a URL that's broken and see if you can spot anything more.. I know Chrome also has some more verbose logging you can enable which is helpful sometimes, how that works escapes me at the moment..

Thank you for the response. Will do what you suggest as I have exhausted al the normal things recommended such flushing DNS, using Google DNS servers etc. All these are temporary fixes, as the issue returns after a few hours.

Use 1.1.1.1 check if it works -- after you to release renew and flushdns -- also on your router
