I've noticed over the last couple of days that none of the videos that posters embed, are playable when using IE. On my laptop at home and my desktop at work.

Am I missing something ?

Yep, its been happening, you will get some spewing about how you should use another browser but then they can't give me a good 3rd option, since my Chrome and Firefox is already used for other things. Then I go to the Chromium website and it warns so much that it's beta and when I tried Waterfox I couldn't have Firefox open at the same time.

It works on Firefox, but I want it to work on IE. And I would like to know why it suddenly isn't?

Microsoft Edge...

like I get it you want the stuff to work in the browser of choice.

but why use IE willingly? does the company IT policy force you to use IE?

I dont understand.
its like going to a Ford dealership and asking them for a brand new 1996 Escort. I just, I dont get it.

and there is no logic in "other browsers are used for other things" BS there are these things called tabs, that you can open in browsers, so you can open more than one.

the only time you could use that logic is if you are already logged into myBB on other browsers with other accounts, and that is against the rules.

in short, suck it up buttercup and move on to 2017 where internet browsers actually do more than what IE has ever dreamed of.

as a side note you did not mention safari ,Opera, Vivaldi and Tor Browser that is then all of the ones worth trying out.
granted, Tor is actually terrible, it feels worse than IE.

So no-one with any feedback on why MyBB's embedded videos have stopped working in IE ?

well lets start.

/dons web dev support hat.

what version of IE? 6,7,8,9?
(have you tried upgrading to a newer version?)
what OS?
(have you tried upgrading?)
what service pack?
(are there new service packs available? have you tried upgrading?)

and I am not trolling here, all of those things have an impact on sites rendering. it is a massive can of worms. and the best solution is to simply use a real browser.

Why apply logic to the situation? He's using IE to start with, FFS!

because sometimes it is an IT policy to use IE company wide. no one knows why, maybe because the IT department in companies like that have trouble understanding new technology.

Something changed on the forum that made video links to show as a black box in IE11.

chances are the change is an update to the embeded player. can you try checking your IE settings to make sure all the setttings that would deal wiht java and HTML 5 (lol HTML 5 on IE) and things like that are working?

I am sure it is not just you, but chances are that its not something myBB has any control over.

It's what tends to happen when browsers get outdated - less and less stuff will work.
