That's my feeling as well. These Turkish ships have already bypassed the EIA requirements and now also the 40% local content requirements, I'd say it's a done deal.

Turkish power ships incoming in 3, 2, 1.....
What Turkish power ships? The mythical ones that are just floating waiting? Most of them are being used already in other countries. Even if they did, we'd need 20 just to meet the 2GW.

The 3 that have tendered for the RMIPPPP. They will be based at Sadhana, Coega and Richards Bay and they total over 1GW. (425, 425, and 350 MW respectively iirc).

I realise now you are being a bit sarky for some reason, but the 28 tenders for the emergency power programme went in on the 22nd December and the announcement of preferred bidders will be today. The bidders are listed here....

And halfway down the page....

Well what do you know, I guess they are just over the horizon and out of sight.

Which 3 that were tendered? Thought that was stopped by the EAP? I mean if the EAP can cause load shedding by forcing the power plants to install filters they can stop that. That is one of the reasons we're currently load shedding is they are busy with that +the ash dam at Camden is probably still not right, + koeberg unit 1 and international imports are fluctuating.

We will need to see, if they do they've got to pass the EAP, they also need to have a way to hook into the grid from those docks.

There was a public meeting last week reported here. Cute that you think legislation has anything to do with this but indeed, we will find out this afternoon and then see how the inevitable objections go...

I should add, the whole procedure on how they will hook up into the grid has been defined in the tender documents and the subsequent rounds of clarification questions back and forward with the RMIPPPP office.

They are ready to go and are waiting for the nod. And if the information I heard last week is true, they will get the nod today.

Well if they do, there isn't a lot we can do about it, perhaps it's the anti-anxiety meds talking or it's the slow realization that the ANC will do what ever the ANC wants.

Its Mantashe, if it doesn't need coal to turn then he probably fought tooth and nail against it regardless if its cheaper, quicker or cleaner...

It will be awarded to people who’ve never run nor actually know what a power provider is but will have a home in Houghton and an array of X5 Ms by mid year....

They in turn will pay the cheapest and nastiest power providers less than 20% of what the govt and tax payer are paying. When it all comes crumbling down another few hundred million will be spent on a committee to investigate the corruption. And guess what they’ll do with the money...

Just be prepared for the price of electricity to increase to pay for all this emergency power.

Announcement now moved to 1pm.

Edit: As you were, it's 4pm after all.
