Quick heads up ...

If you are booked on an Emirates flight, check departure and connection.

Just found out that my Saturday flight, Durban to Dubai is leaving a few hours later ... that in itself isnt a problem.

Problem is that Emirates have rebooked my flight to Germany, as revised, leaves 20 hours later, where before I had a 3 hour layover.

I believe this has something to do with re routing over Yemen, and may last a few weeks.

Guess who is going to drink the lounge dry ......

You can get a complimentary hotel room if your layover is longer than 9 hours, you will be issued with a 24 hour visa on arrival

Sure, problem being that I miss my appointment in Frankfurt - having expected to arrive 13h00, and to be out of Frankfurt by 18h00 heading to Bad Steben for my next appointment at 08h30 Monday.

I have however managed to route via CT leaving 14h00 Saturday.

Either way, Emirates is still one of the better airlines ..... I absoloooootely refuse to fly SAA for personal reasons.

+1

Emirates is fantastic, I wouldn't be surprised if the route changes are due to gov interference.

I'll also never fly SAA, their service is k@k and their fleet just feels "grubby"

Yemeni government interference?

Just to add, Dubai to Durban might save a few grand but the last two trips have both been on older planes. No USB ports and even worse, shared movie/series channels. The leg from JHB has a newer plane which is a lot better.

Also received an e-mail about one of our Emirates flight changing times for our Dubai to Cape Town leg.

I do think it has to do with the conflict in Yemen as the flight path changed about a month ago.

Using Flightradar quite a bit and noticed that on average Flights to and from Cape Town has been about 30 minutes late.
