Greetings, Is it possible to get employment with just Oracle Certificates (java and databases ) and a few Microsoft certifications. I doing my Bsc, but its a bit costly so i'm looking for ways to fund it by working along desired paths in the IT industry through acquiring relevant certifications.

Depends on your salary expectations and attitude. Don't expect more than slave wages or anything higher than junior where the tea girl will be your superior.

It is certainly possible to get work with those certifications. Salary will be better with the BSc, but some money is better than no money.

I know that current Oracle certifications are extremely helpful.

This plus a degree is virtually a guarentee of a job.

Have you considered doing an internship overseas? I know a bunch of people who have done internships at Google (Silicon Valley and Switzerland), Facebook, Intel, Nvidia, Apple, Microsoft, etc. Even one or two at banks. Apart from great experience, the intern salary tends to range from $6k to $8k (somtimes with a stipend for rent, and sometimes higer pay if you're a postgrad), which at current exchange rates, is R180k-R240k for 3 months or R360k-R480k for 6 months. This is often enough live off for a good while, especially if you get invited back for a second round, and doesn't require simultaneous work, which can be really tough when trying to study (I know - I did this... and it sucked (but it builds character :p)). You should check for internship program info on company websites, or looks for intern searches sent out by ex-students, or just talk to people you know who have done them to get put in contact.

Many thanks, long road ahead. I'm just looking for a I.T job with those certs to be able to fund my bsc. So i'm not doing it to get sports cars and expensive cigars (i don't even smoke ). Thanks for the advice.
