Has anyone tried using P2P software on the MTN broadband? I can't get eMule to connect to TCP port 4662 (or any others) even if I disable the XP firewall completely

mtn gprs work via vpn connection thats why you dont get a public ip, but a private ip something like 172.16.x.x

emule need a public ip with available ports to give you an high-id, so you may eventually get on with low-id which would = crap speed :/

you can call MTN service center and ask them how to get a public IP address via the Internet APN. It can be done quite easily, but MTN have asked me not to post the details on this forum. I would suggest maybe sending a PM to MTNBroadband?
Cheers -

I wouldn't even bother trying, you'll spend a fortune!

It true escapes me why anyone would want to spend R2 per meg for P2P a 200 mg download will cost 400 anything you download through this will be cheaper to just buy....

Who says what I want is 200MB?

I have used eMule over an MTN EDGE connection. I got a low-id, but I was fairly impressed with the speed of the download. It was far superior to other times where I've had a low-id.

Obviously not the sort of thing I'd go downloading a DivX movie from, but for an occasional 2 - 5 Mb file, it is fine.
