Emule

Dunno bout that. I have been running emule 24/7 for weeks now and since the speed return (Friday 17:15) I have had solid speed from emule ie. maximum speed. According to my traffic graph for today it has averaged about 14.5KB/sec (min 12KB/sec) aka perfect speed.

Download some more files at the same time. Otherwise maybe your tower/area has speed issues. Get that ticket open then..
 
confirmed... cruising on emule... if these speeds stay i love sentech, but if not, back to the forum!!!!

please help someone... what are the legalities regarding p2p downloads? how safe is a person? why no one bust?

many do get busted, about 300 last year!
Scary stuff, how far people are going to crack down on file sharing, the Stupid music industry went and arrested a 12 year old girl.

The music industry basically went mad end of last year, and got records from ISP's of people that do major uploads, after a warrent to get those details, they started monitoring individuals suspected of sharing many music files, and then arrested those individuals. Many developers of P2P software have been arrested in the past.

So, P2P sharing is not safe, The big BUT in the whole thing is who its unsafe for :
-12 year old girls posting GB's of MP3's
-anyone else that uploads mp3
-any uploaders of Video files (Divx / MPG /wmv)
I'm sure in time the software industry will also crack down,
whats the moral of the story, LEECH IT ALL, SHARE NONE OF IT!
as long as you aren't sharing, there are bigger fish out there (all those other sources on your downloads)
In terms of E-mule/edonkey, you are rather unsafe, as generally, the file currently being downloaded, has its available parts uploaded on the network for other users to download, but I doubt the 3 files being downloaded will generate much upload traffic.

As users of myAdsl, none of us have anything to worry about, as we don't take part in illegal P2P trading, its always for legal stuff, movie trailers, shareware/freeware software etc.
 
It's mainly in the US that there has been cracking down and only really because the music industry believes P2P is stealing its profits (even though CD sales are up!). Legally in SA the same laws apply i.e. you are not allowed to have MP3's you do not already own on CD. Having said this our justice system is so overloaded that it is unlikely they will allow RIAA type tactics to clog up the system even more. Also as you live in SA you are outside the jurisdiction of the US so the RIAA can do nothing about it. I'm not promoting the illegal use of P2P, I just believe the RIAA's stance that P2P is killing their business is absolute rubbish.... but good luck to them, they won't win.

I have an Ipod, and wanted to download music from the USA, and pay for it. Cost per track $0.99 = R6.50. They wouldn't allow me to. To buy the CD here costs you at least R160 and assuming there are 10 tracks to the CD, that gives you a price of R16 per track.

Its the same with electronic goods. More than double the price if you but it in SA and the rest of the world, than if you would have purchased it in the USA.

In a shopping centres you have anchor tenants who pay at least half for their m2 than all the smaller shops who actually subsidise the rent of the larger shops.

I believe the same principle applies. The USA is the anchor tenant and we (the rest of the world) must pay to subsidise them.

I am not saying I condone stealing, and 99% of my music is legal, however, when I see cd's that I cant buy here, and the USA is not prepared to sell to me, and I see it on P2P, I will download.
 
I know UCT res.'s have been nailed a bit. I heard of one guy that hooked up a little "bomb" to a cellphone, and put it in his PC, so if the pigs came he could call it, and his HDD would blow up...
