Enable EDGE dataon a pre-paid sim? *123# ?

just bought mtn pay as you go and can see "yello broadband"
now just need to enable data on my line (helpdesk really busy itseems)


bit unfortunate that i had to go this route just to use EDGE

to enable just press: *123# and a menu will appear > choose the option that sends settings to you and it will auto activate

yeah i tried that ddnt work.
settings got sent used the "1234" password (btw 808 said i should use 0808 ) instead...also didnt work

finally this AM specialist assisted me - had to delete everthing i had and he only sent me WAP settings.

whats the difference between MTN WAP and MTN.GPRS settings ?
i dont believe its the same - if so why the difference in name.

if i connect via MTN.WAP am i usig GPRS - more specifically will i be able to USE EDGE.

hi, b@ndit. you'll probably be better off asking this in the mtn forum, but i'll give it a shot

one of these two settings would probably refer to "dial-up" settings, i.e. there will be a physical tel number to dial to, as you would with a normal dial-up connection.

the other one would refer to the gprs/edge settings, which is what you are looking for - judging by the names, i'm going to guess that it would be mtn.gprs. this will allow you to connect via edge (where available) or gprs
