Good day,

I installed Windows Vista a few days ago and I'm trying to set up ICS on two PC's. However I noticed that the iBurst Terminal #2 (LAN connection) has limited connectivity. ICS worked on the two PC's when I had Windows XP installed, and the LAN connection was enabled. However, ICS doesn't seem to work with the Vista PC's. Does the iBurst LAN connection have to be enabled for ICS to work?

PS: I entered the IP as 192.168.250.1. After entering this IP, it still had limited connectivity. How do I get this connection to function properly? :confused:

Thanks,
GBM

GBM, just force yourself to spend a few rand and get a router and all your connectivity problems and FRUSTRATIONS will come to an end, besides there are added advantages in using a router as you will find out.

No router can fix the fact that the iBurst LAN connection has limited connectivity. I need to get THAT connection to work, and my troubles should go away. ;)

Right click the network icon on the bottom right of the taskbar, open “Network and Sharing Center” below the icons on the iBurst connection there is a link to the right of it called Customize, click it and change it from Public to Private.

I tried that, but the connection still has limited or no connectivity. I'm starting to think I don't have admin rights on my own PC... :eek:

The IP 192.168.250.1 doesn't do anything to the connection.

The Virtual Connection's (iBurst Modem) IP4 settings:
IP = 169.254.102.240
SM = 255.255.0.0
PDNS = 208.67.220.220
ADNS = 196.46.70.1 - CTN / 196.30.31.193 - JHB

WAN Mini Port's (Dial-up) IP4 Settings:
IP = Auto
PDNS = 208.67.220.220
ADNS = 196.46.70.1 - CTN / 196.30.31.193 - JHB

Try these settings, also try to ping www.google.com - if the pings are successful the chances are good that the connectivity issues are related to antivirus or firewall settings.

I tried your advice on the IP and DNS settings, nothing worked. So I decided to try it with an XP PC. Voila. After entering the IP, I was able to use ICS. This must be a Vista related problem. Like you said, something is blocking the iBurst Terminal. I turned off Windows Firewall, Windows Defender, and my BitDefender Firewall. Nothing. It still does not want to connect.

OK, so I formatted my PC and reverted back to XP. I can now use ICS and the iBurst Terminal LAN connection is enabled. However, now I can't share files between the two PC's. One of them has Vista Business installed, and mine has XP Home SP2. We can share the Internet between the two PC's, but when I try to ping the Vista PC, it times out. I also can't see the computer in My Network Places. Any ideas?

I find that if I turn on the main pc first it will see others on the network when they are turned on, but if they are already on then the network has trouble resolving.

Looks like thats your Virtual Network Card.It says limited or no connectivity is correct , as the virtual nic cannot connect to the iburst DHCP server.Its normal , dont stress.
