Energy monitors

Like most people I'm also trying to fight the high cost of Eskom's monopoly.
I saw an ad for an energy monitor the other day and wondered if they really help?
If so, which one is the best, and what cost am I looking at?
Can I install myself? or would I need a trained pro?
I'm sure someone out there has a good answer? thanks in advance

I can still wholeheartedly recommend the Homebug.. but it is quite a bit of a cost upfront to get it all up and running.

Mine should be paid off sometime this year, and then all extra savings are just pure cream.
