Hi I bought a vehicle once it was transferred into my name I I realized that the engine number doesn't correspond with the number that's on the papers I would like to get engine clearance but I can't get a hold of the owner and the engine isn't registered on someone's name so what is the procedure

If the engine was changed the previous owner must have the invoice for the engine. You must have this to change the engine number on the car. So you would need to get a hold of the owner.

Go to the police and ask what step to take.
Contact a place like engine den maybe they know what needs to be done

Went through the process last year. You need the invoice of the new engine, and your car needs to be microdotted. I think proof of residence was also required. You then go to a licensing centre where police clearance also gets done, and fill in a form.

If the previous owner is not reachable or doesn't have the invoice of the new engine, unfortunately I don't know what options you have then.
