Engine light on and flashing

Today the 11 September 2017 my 2011 Jetta 1.6 TDI had engine light on and another spring like image flashing. When I read the manual the message "faulty catalyst Convertor ". I need to know what could be the cause? The mileage is on 117522 and and was last serviced January 2017. The nearest VW approved service is Aliwal North which is about +/- 100km away from Sterkspruit. How long can I drive this car before it can cause more damage?

Is that car still under finance and contractual warranty/service with the agents?

If not why not get a reputable non-car-branded mechanic workshop have a look...

oh dear. my polo tdi did the same. was the egr valve. costs around R12k to fix.

get the car scanned by someone that knows vw.

Yes the car is under finance and service with agents (Innovations NEDBANK).

I think it's best you give VW a call and ask them if it's safe to drive the car fir 100km to them, I am quite sure they will know if it's advisable or not.
