Hi

I have a Jetta 2.0Tfsi and I have had a few problems with the car being serviced by VW northcliff in particulary, Had the car serviced by VW northcliff and complained of the car losing power(accelerator pedal just stopped working completely and the car is just coasting under its momentum) anyways, after having the car "fixed" by VW Northcliff they told me some BS part was replaced and the problem was fixed, turns out it wasnt, then my car developed a smoking problem, turns it out it has a freshly developed oil leak, so back to VW northcliff and they find that the Oil lid wasnt closed and oil was sprayed and leaked onto the engine causing the smoke/smell and overheating problem,

Long story short
14 Visits to VW northcliff later I have taken the car to VW Hatfield who replaced the faulty ingectors to fix the problem,

The problem I have now is the engine idles very rough, it feels worse than my Tdi does though, which VW say is normal for a 2.0Tfsi (the 147KW GTi engine) with 90 000kms on the clock,

Anyone have any theorys as to what I can have looked at?

Another GREAT story about good cars being handled like their mother's @sses! Same with Alfa dude, you send the car for one issue that THEY created and it comes back with another issue...

But, learn one thing please, whenever dealers or whoever replaces or works on your car, let them take you through the parts they removed etc, get slips for the purchases and go through the engine compartment feeling hoses and leads and anything that CAN come loose or they had to loosen during the work they did on the car...

Some of these guys couldn't care less about your car, so to get the job done asap is all they worry about, sometimes even forgeting important things! There is usually a checklist when people do services or replaces parts they have to fill out, seen this at BMW and the one Alfa guy I use...ask for that list, it must be checked!

other than that, a little baddy face everytime you go there does seem to help too!
Hope you get it sorted, a nice car you have there...I know, I just complimented a VW

If the engine started overheating because of lack of oil then your probably sitting with a bearing knock. That's what's causing the vibration.

If it is a bearing knock it should get worse as your driving.

contact g60 on the vwclubsa forum, he works at hatfield if im not mistaken, and is very helpful

Word of warning, ensure that the timing belt is checked and replaced at 105 000k's. As for the rough idle could be a poorly inserted coilpack or faulty coilpack. Get some one with VCDS vag com to check for engine faults.

Is there a dealership someone can recommend that I can take the car too where there might be a specialist of some sort that can have a look at the car?

HAHA, that would cause more than just vibration, it causes some serious noise, hence the term "knock".

Weird enough, GM in Hatfield has been giving me good service recently. Which is something considering they used to have terrible after sales service, not so much rude, just useless. I tell them what the faults are but they replace it properly and everything looks good when I get the car back. Car is still under warranty so I just do some diagnoses if I notice something (I'm very picky).

Get it hookup to a VAG from the FRC guys, they were able to fix my R65000 gearbox replacement (because VW Uitenhage and Germany Said it was poked) with their laptop and a software update sorted all my problems out.

The car is undermaintenance plan too so dont want to take it anywhere else, I just really dont think its normal for the car to shudder so much while idling, it feels like youve pulled off badly and its about to stall, as soon as the car pulls off and theres a couple revs on it its silky smooth, problem only occurs at idle

Bud, my car was under maintenance and had 6 months of hell with agents. So if you want it fixed, you have my recommendation. You wont lose your maintenance or warranty if they linking a Laptop to it...

Like I said, how badly do you want it resolved? Work out the cost of sending your car in all the time, being CARLOS for the day and the frustration value and see if its worth your while.

Sounds more like a oxygen sensor that is not 100%.
How is your fuel consumption lately?

I just hate bad mechanics :(

My dad drives the car currently, and on the last tank he got 600kms so no drop in performance or consumption, just a very shuddery(word?) idle, feels like the cars about to stall, its *** :(

VW Northcliff is the worst VW garage in the world, incompetant fools who have waste much of my time.

You tried Hatfield in Bryanston? I took my GTI there for coil packs (perhaps you have an issue with that like i did - I had same issue sort of and when i revved it it would be fine, but mine got bad quick to the point it was firing on 2 cylinders). Guy by the name of Morne is very clued up and offers great service. Try them perhaps

Been dealing with Morne and his assistant Frans, They seem to think the shudder is normal for the mileage of the car which i think is just a way of trying to not work on the car anymore, its really unpleasant

Really? Thats not like him... Then again I dont know the severity, but that is strange. I had 2 GTI's with over 120k and never had any issues of the sort (granted they were IX and not V TFSI motors)

Get some info from the guys at http://www.vwgticlub.co.za/forum/index.php

Chances are someone else had the same issues as your motor is the same. Is it the BWA motor? If later than 05 prob BWA but not sure if motor is identical to GTI motor - they could tell you

VW Strydom park was particularly good when I still drove a VW
