Engine Tick

as you gave almost no details of the engine, car, age..nada this is just a guess.

that ticking sound is either a very badly adjusted tappet...or if the car has hydraulic lifters then one of them is stuck/sluggish, or the actual camshaft is badly worn.

it may also be a simple thing, like a slightly leaking exhaust gasket on one cylinder only..they also sound a bit ticky when that happens.

oh yeah, sorry. :)

Fiat Palio 1.2 Petrol 2002 Model. 81500km... serviced at 80 000km.. made noise before and after. Replaced the cambelt etc.. and I think camshaft as well.. they said something needed replacement extra with regards to that.. believe that was it.

That is tappet noise. As Werner said they need adjustment and in the case of hydraulic lifters either the some of them are stuffed or in some rare cases the oil pump is so worn the lifters aren't getting enough pressure.

Worn hydraulic lifters, had it on my car and replaced the lifters and all is good.

Also could be a bad oil feed to the one or more lifter. Use an engine flush for a while then change the oil.
