Good evening gents

I am an electrical engineer with a master's degree and 3 years experience. I feel like I am being underpaid at my current job coupled with the fact that I do not enjoy what I do anymore, I have decided to look for something else.

I have an interview scheduled at a big defense company (around 800+ people) and the position looks good. Since they are going to ask me about salary expectations, what is reasonable? Are there any other engineers with similar educations and experience backgrounds that can advise me?

A similar position at a different company looking for 3-5 years experience is willing to pay R35k-45k pm. Should I maybe use this as a benchmark? Any thoughts on this will be highly appreciated.

Edit: This is ito Cost to Company

Looks reasonable.
But remember, those 3 years need to demonstrate your ability (proof). Otherwise you'll start on the same level as a 4-year BSc/BEng degree with 3 years experience. But these defence guys usually have a good career ladder system, which would allow you to leverage your Masters to move up quicker.
