In retrospect, throwing a young keeper into his first competitive game in a do-or-die situation may not have been the optimal strategy. :p
 
yeah huge mistake by mclaren, imho two things cost him the game, 1) playing the inexperienced keeper, and 2) wayne bridge -he was AWFUL
 
ok so nivek it was not the shocking defence that never closed both shots down?

im going to be honest, england's backline was shocking

yes bridge played badly but i think so did england's entire backline

carsen blunder was bad but not as bad as 2 croatian striker beating 5 england defenders

also after going 2-2 england stopped attacking and allowed croatia back into the game

i believe beckham should have started from the get go

mclaren is a poor manager, he should have started like he wanted to win and not like he wanted to draw

but what an awesome game, on a knife edge the whole game :)
england only have themselves to blame

killa, I agree about the poor defence in general, but really that first goal should never have rolled over Carson's shoulder like it did. :p But yeah, the second goal particularly was the result of poor defending.

Carson caused the first goal, and Wayne Bridge the second, has he never heard of an off side trap? I agree the whole back line had a bad game, but Bridge looked particularly SHOCKING...
