hello people, I wanted to ask if there is anyone who got a software development diploma in gauteng, wanted to know which institutions are the best for these diplomas besides the universities and also if I can get a job after completion of the diploma and all the prerequisites for this field because I really wanna do it, thanks

If you are not studying through a university for a min of 3 years (diploma or degree) then you're wasting your time. Obviously this doesn't apply to honours, masters, doctorate.

Sure you can go to CTI or some other place but you'd be wasting your time. Employers will lump you into the pile with the rest of the "I heard I can make big bucks doing software development but only want to study for 6 months" people who suck so bad that they are basically unemployable.

If you want to do software development as a career get a solid education that can teach you the basics and the best ways to approach software development. Employers don't want people who don't understand the fundamentals.

thanks for the help, so can I just do a short course in the meantime then enrol at a university next year ? and if so which ones do you recommend

UNISA has a few short courses as well as diplomas and obviously degrees.

If you go the UNISA way its easy to get credit for your diploma if you wish to continue on with a degree.

There is a reason most of these coledges are certified in other countries, rather stick to certified local well known institutions.

You can study for 15 years and still not be any good; experience matters the most. I haven't had 1 company turn me down or "lump" me into any category because I lack a degree, they consider me because I have a lot of experience. Getting your foot in the door by doing an internship or starting work as a junior where they're looking to do on the job training will bring you far better opportunities in the 3 years you would have spent studying. To each his own though. If you can't Google for **** and you don't have a logical mind to apply/solve issues, then go study and train for it. Otherwise, don't waste your time thinking you need some degree to be considered for a job in the field.

so are there any firms that you know of that have on the job training for people like me
