Ensuring Employment

With my decision to move to the UK I am probably going to be making a lot of these threads, I would like advice from those that have been through the process.

I am currently a call centre analyst with around 2 years of experience, before that I was in the market research department for 6 years (same company. large corporate).

I am working towards an IT diploma (finishing 2nd year),

Given that I have approximately a year left what can I do to make myself as employable as possible.

I see a direct correlation to my current job pays around 25k per annum in the uk, but without an official "Qualification" not sure if they would accept my work experience.

Even thinking of quitting job now and going to intern somewhere as a developer just to pick up practical coding skills.

3 things get you job in IT in the UK.

1. Experience. The more the better. Very hard if you have less than 2 years. Dont bother with written references. Everyone knows they can be forged. I have NEVER been asked for any. They DO phone to check your references.
2. Education. Uni. If you dont have a Uni degree, then you probably need lots more experience. But if there is someone with the same experience as you and they have a degree, you will lose out.
3. Right to work. If you dont have this, they dont even read your cv

That would put you under the planned 35k limit where they kick out foreigners...but chances of that ever happening really are slim in my view.

I rate just try a few applications and see what happens?

And yeah they are really serious about the right to work. Hell they wouldn't even let me (a transfer between two offices) into the main part of the building without inspecting & copying that stuff.
