Entry-level Garmin or TomTom?

Someone else wants to buy a cheap entry-level GPS. Budget is around R1000.

TomTom - Start

or

Garmin nuvi 205

I enjoy my nuvi 205, but new maps are expensive, get latest maps when purchasing. TomTom has free upgrade maps as far as I know.

Garmin is the best GPS solution in my opinion.

Tom Tom > Garmin

I'm not familiar with the tom tom, but a number of people have reported issues with the garmin when searching for a specific address. I have the nuvi205 and it sometimes can be 'difficult' doing this, but I prefer garmin because of map source and tracks 4 africa.

I have the Garmin 1410 which is terrible with it's guidance system. I drove from JHB to Mpumulanga and almost got lost when I reached Hazyview. Thanks to TomTom on my iPhone I got from Hazyview to my final destination.
