Looking for some advice on entry-level gfx cards, these are the options (pricing is very similar so we'll leave that out of the equation)

MSI NX8400GS-D512H, 512MB
MSI VN210-MD512H, 512MB
MSI R4350-MD512H 512MB ATI

All the cards are 16x PCI-E, and will be used to play only old games/basic small kiddies games (hence no necessity for power)

Appreciate all your help, in advance :)

I assume you don't have onboard graphics? Since that would suffice for your needs.

Otherwise, 4350!

What's the budget. With such low end cards usually a MUCH better card is R100 more. Try afford a 5570.

Well, the PC does have onboard, but the game specifications require:

# 64 MB DirectX® 9.0c-compatible, 3D video card supporting Shaders 2.0 (NVIDIA® GeForce FX or better, ATI Radeon™ 9600 or better)
NOTE: 2.0 Intel® Pentium® 4 class or better processor is required for onboard (built-in) integrated chipsets (e.g., Intel® on-board 9xx series chipsets, NVIDIA® Go® series, ATI Mobility Radeon™ and Express™)

The board is an MSI G31 ... would the onboard work? The client was having trouble getting it to work...

5570 is double the price of the ones I mentioned.

you can get a 5550 1 gig card for about R800 bucks... or a GTS250 1gig card for about 1200... if your budget is under this, then look at the second hand market, and maybe pickup a 3870 or 8800gt for about R500

Okay peeps seriously...
I'm not looking for random recommendations
I'm not looking at the second hand market

Not looking for anything more than I asked in the OP - which card, out of the three, would be the best.

Thanks again

The onboard graphics are too weak. Of course everyone here will push you to get a bigger more expensive card, but I still say get what you need and no more. A 4350 should suffice.

The 4350 of course. But with a budget we may be able to help you out better.

lol dude... go play your old game then... its cool... not like you were ever going to play a game on medium settings that was made in the last 3 years... but its cool... enjoy :)

There isn't a budget, there's a particular use. That use needs to be fulfilled and that's all... this isn't for a gamer whos gonna keep buying games.

Thanks all - looks like the 4350 wins.
