Epic vs Steam

I'm on a very slow internet connection, so normally games takes ages to download on Steam.

However, today I installed something from Epic, and the download speed was at least 4 times quicker.

I downloaded 21 gigs in a couple of hours, while it would normally days.

Has anyone noticed this? And can Steams download speed be improved beyond upgrading the line?

Check that your steam downloads aren't limited speed wise.

My steam downloads always run my full line speed on steam, unless I speed limit it.. this has been the case with my previous ISP, vox and current ISP CISP..

My steam downloads run at line speed+ never had any issues with it. Epic was quick but not line speed.

Lol, I have a 100Mbps line. This is Steam:

epic often downloads just as fast as steam but takes ages to install/patch once the files are on disk

if ur having differences in the download speeds, its your ISP or DNS at play

Yeah, I have noticed this with games installed on my HDD. I don't know whether they use a low resource unpacking tool, but I have seen smaller than 100 MB updates take minutes to install.

Strange, for me (on Rain) Steam downloads much faster than the Epic Store

I think it's because it verifies the files of the whole game after your download is done to make sure everything is in order.

Nothing wrong with Steam download speeds in SA. Check your settings.

uhhh not entirely sure how that works, TIL

I'm not 100% certain but that's just my best guess, since the Epic Games launcher takes forever to install even a small update.
