Equal outcome raise denied?

So my work promised a raise this year if I met certain requirements. I managed to pass all the requirements but when it was time for the raise. They said I did qualify for the raise but they can't give it to me as it wouldn't be fair to the other associates as I would be earning more than them. Because of a Government labour law that requires an equal opportunity of income/outcome? The only thing in my favour is seniority or senility I guess? What about keeping up with inflation etc oh well. : (

Anyone heard of this BS before?
That happened to me. I began looking for a new job straight afterwards. I found one luckily and left. I don't appreciate people who play games with me (well not those sort)
Good luck.

If it's not written on paper or email then it doesn't mean anything.
This is the classic baiting method practiced by companies.
Trust no one.

Good luck with the job search OP! You'll find something better, especially if you can prove that you were recognized as the top performer in your current role.
