There are muscles but not the kind you thinking of. The muscles are used to control blood flow into the penis all arteries have muscles.

Not all ED is mental is correct though a short course of viagra or any pde5 inhibitor can reverse tissue damage, though in rare cases it can fail to normalise tissue. The last resort is surgery or a toy boy on the side

He has nerve damage as a result of a spinal injury. So hopefully the injections work. apparently paraplegics use it too

Bleh, yeah but you really pushing it then ... sometimes its just safer and easier to accept it. Nerve damage defeats modern medicine :(
 
I can happily report back that after the injection hubby had a raging hardon which lasted about an hour. I was a little embarrassed . He thought it hilarious when I walked in and the nurse, the urologist and the neurologist were standing around the bed and he was proudly showing off his manhood.

Glad it's worked. He'll get 4 shots out of one prescription (works out at R120 per prescription) so we're happy! :D
