eRepublik - WTF

hey there

I tried to sign up for eRepublik last night at home, and keep in mind its the first time i ever logged onto the site, i didn't even get a register screen, this is what i got:

WTF ???????

I dunno who Luc Praetor is, but i didn't have to log in or anything, just took me straight to his account....

(luckely, i'm not a D**S, so i just left his acount alone :) )
 
but it got me little worried, why is this happening? can't this ever happen the other way around? is it just with this site? :eek:
 
Well guys, i have signed up and everything but i cant play cos i havent recieved a confirmation email - been about aweek. Any idea??

I'm Luc Praetor on eRepublik, and I have been complaining to the administrators of eRepublik about this caching problem.

Fortunately, you can't screw with someone's account you see, as it does check at the last moment that you are the right person submitting the request.

So I mostly access the site through IS DSL in Jo'burg, and then through Imaginet (SAIX DSL methinks) at home. I get different people appearing when I visit the site, depending on where I'm browsing from. Notably today, my MTN Data connection did not seem to have the caching problem.

The overall issue may very well be due to the transparent proxy that IS runs in Jo'burg. I struggled to anonymise my country IP in December, and it [transparent proxy] turned out to be the cause.

It's scary... you can even read someone's inbox. Not so cool when we're trying to weed out the Brazilian and Indo spies :P

Mezu's a friend of mine, and he had mentioned it to me. I was a bit horrified about the fact ^^

When you do join, look me up. I may be able to help here and there. I'm still learning the ropes.

(I'm still devastated that eSouthAfrica is partly occupied by a barbaric warmongering state :eek:)
