Hello,

I am thinking about getting a Ergonomic Keyboard.

has anyone here ever used one? I don't know if I will be able to get used to the keys being shifted around like that.

Perhaps it will be best for my wrists in the long run?

Thanks

Had one, paid lot of money for it and gave it away. Found it very uncomfortable.

Still very happy with my Logitech Ultra-X.

I got the MS 4000 recently. It's definitely more comfortable, especially the leather wristpad. And it is better for your wrists. You get used to the position very quickly. I find the keys a bit too sticky though for my liking but I think it should break in.

It depends partly on whether you are a touch typist. After getting RSI a decade or so ago I switched to one (and left-handed mousing) and have never looked back. Yes it does take some getting used to (again, especially if you touch-type) but once you are there the difference is significant. Definitely a more natural position and more relaxing on the wrists.

If you don't want to go the entire ergonomic route with the 'split' keyboard, a keyboard like Microsoft's much cheaper 'ComfortCurve' is a good compromise -- and not as difficult to get used to because although it curves for a better 'approach angle' from your forearms, it doesn't have an actual split between the keys.

Thanks for your advice guys

The reviews on cnet is all doom and gloom, no matter which brand/model I am looking at :p
I always loved microsoft's brand of kb and mice, want to stick with them as far as I can.

Im a fast typer, hoping the ergonomic kb wont interfere with my typing speed with the sticky keys as u say.

You'll get used to it. I much prefer a split ms kb to a normal one.

I cant seem to find anyone with stock of the Microsoft 4000. Any ideas where i can order one?
