Hi,

I have a Telkom supplied ADSL 5102G wired / wireless router.

I connect my desktop PC to the router via a cable and it works beautifully. I am trying to connect my laptop to the same router via a wireless connection. The connection is there but the signal strength cycles from 54Mbps to 1 Mbps evry two or three seconds, making it unusable.

Can anyone tell me why this may be happening?

Many thanks,

Vaughn

Are there any obstacles? ( i.e. walls etc ) It could be having problems picking up the signal. See what happens when it is next to your pc

There is allot of factors, microwaves, walls, ellies video blasters.

You forgot WISPS dude!

Interference/Noise from Wisps, correctly applied, could raise the titanic (With ELVIS aboard)!!!!!

Check if there are other SSID's on the same channel as you. If so, change the channel. I would also, as previously suggested, move the laptop close to the router, no more than 2 meters, otherwise you may overload the receiver, and check if the irradic behaviour persists.
