Hi

I am experiencing a problem where my SNR is jumping between 1dB and 20dB erratically for the last 24 hours, which results in disconnections when it goes below 4dB or so. I used sync at a very stable 6mbps and normally my SNR is between 10dB and 12dB with an attenuation at 42dB. Strangely enough, the attenuation has remained constant at 42dB during this last 24 hours, but my sync dropped to 4mbps a few times after a disconnect whenthe SNR is low when trying to reconnect. I have changed cables at home, removed all other devices and plugged router directly into phone line on its own, tried a different ISP, it made no difference.

Does anybody have experience with this or have some insight to what could be the cause? I am pretty sure this happened late yesterday afternoon when we had a storm.

Kind Regards

Yea, had exactly the same issue. It was a loose connection on the line. You can start by checking the box on the wall for any loose connection. After Telkom decided not to pitch for 1.5 weeks i got a ladder, climbed up the telephone pole and redid the connections. Works 100% now.

I have checked the connection box in my house, all the connections are good and tight. Unfortunately I'm in a complex and all cables run underground and go to a central box. I also plugged in my pots filter and connected up the phone and there is a whole bunch of noise on the line. I think the storm stuffed something up :(

I have logged a fault with Telkom, hopefully they come out soon.

Good luck, pester them on twitter.com/TelkomZA if they take too long.
